Who to believe?

Coca-Cola has given millions of dollars to a group that promotes the idea that exercise, rather than a healthy diet, is the real key to weight loss. The soft drinks company has been accused of providing financial and logistical support to the Global Energy Balance Network (GEBN).

Now we hear that meat is bad for us. Was that the Vegetarians and Vegans at work or the trend to turn ‘US’ away from meat because the Chinese are deemed a massive future income earner for Australia and we need to reduce our consumption so that theirs can increase?

Poor old sugar industry is also taking a hammering from scientists who announced this week that it is the sugar, not the calories, that are causing cancer. Maybe this is the artificial sweetener industry at work?

The Paleo brigade are promoting ‘Eat like a caveman’. Is that a European caveman or a Chinese caveman? Both had distinctively different diets so which do I choose? Hang on, didn’t they tell us at school that cavemen didn’t live past 40? Perhaps it’s the chemicals extending our lives?

Will all these ‘Massive breakthrough’ claims, just who do we believe?
